A Maryland bridge is a conservative way of replacing a missing tooth as it does not require the teeth either side of the space to be drilled.
It consists of a metal framework with a porcelain tooth baked on to the front of the framework. The framework forms wings which have a porous surface so that they can receive a bonding agent, and then they are bonded to the backs of the teeth on either side of the missing tooth.
